Dear NRO Supporter,
The National Repertory Orchestra is set to embark on its 51st season, and we are off to a great start! Our nationwide auditions drew over 800 of the country's most talented young musicians, each vying for one of the coveted 88 chairs in this season's orchestra. I am often asked how it is that we have such an overwhelming response to our auditions year after year. The answer is simple. The NRO provides a world class educational experience that includes a challenging classical repertoire, an incomparable mountain living experience, and an appreciative, dedicated community that literally brings the musicians home for dinner.
The season opens June 19th with the NRO and the Colorado Children's Chorale performing in a joint concert. Summer highlights include a guest appearance by nationally renowned conductor Leonard Slatkin; violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn playing the famous Red Violin (the Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius of 1720), and the world premier of Denver native Stacey (Miller) Rose's new piano concerto. While we are about musical education first and foremost, the NRO is creating great concerts, expanding the classical music audience, and enhancing the cultural life of our attendees at the same time.
It is because of you and your on-going support that the NRO continues to impact so many lives here and across the country. Our patrons and benefactors are not just residents of Summit County; you come from across the state of Colorado and all over the United States. For more than 50 years you have responded to our calls for support, and you have given often and generously. This has allowed us to keep our ticket prices low, house our orchestra members and interns, expand our repertoire and community programs, and always attract the best and brightest of musicians.
We know you love the music, so won't you take this opportunity to lend your support? Any gift, large or small, makes a difference. Remember, this is your orchestra - the NRO would not exist without your patronage and financial support.
